'The Spirit of Whale Being'
Artist: Tiko Kerr
Patron: Spirit of Vancouver
Provenance: This beautifully detailed Orca depicts the rich and diverse history of Vancouver. Painted with Kerr's unique rhythmic style and strong sense of movement, this Orca is a celebration of our city.

Sold for: $5,000

'Uplifting West Coast Spirit'
Artist: Michael Tickner
Patron: Polaris Minerals Corp
Provenance: Using a bright, crisp colour palette, well-known Lion's Bay artist Michael Tickner has created a stunning landscape of our local mountains, forests and evening sky. Two of Michael's images were recently chosen by the Vancouver Olympic Bid Committee to be included as part of the final bid presentation to the I. O. C. Members in Prague.

'Wah' Yooks'
Artist: Bill Helin
Patron: Terasen
Provenance: In Tsimshian, "Wah' Yooks" means "Act Without Hesitation." A message perhaps from Artist Bill Helin whose work often tries to create awareness of the fragility of our natural environment. Here the Fire Chief blazes in the sky, an eagle and grizzly hunt salmon, and an orca frolics in the sea.

"Bjossa -The Orca in the Sky"
Artist: Sheila Williams, Shegon Mosaic Works
Patron: KPMG
Provenance: A tribute to Vancouver's last captive Orca, Bjossa, who flew to her new home down south and ultimately passed away in October 2001. Using a combination of naturally polished local black beach rock, handmade tile and mirror, artist Shelia Williams has created an exciting piece of art.

'Whales Tales'

Provenance: Built into this Orca, is a fabulous Cetacea inspired library with such titles as "Curious Whale", "Return of the Orca" and "The Podfather". Artist and furniture designer craftsman, Judson Beaumont obviously had much fun crafting this piece.

Provenance: Using traditional shapes and colors, Nisga'a artists Norman Tait and Lucinda Turner have created a visually stunning piece that reflects the rich history of native art in BC.

'Orcasmic Voyage'

Provenance: This beautifully crafted piece, sculpted to represent a submarine rising up through the brushed aluminum kelp, is copper colored and fitted with portholes, rivets, and other submarine memorabilia. If you look into the periscope you can see a Mayan figurine looking at you.

'Bobby Orrca'
Artist: Dean Lauze
Patron: Canaccord National and Brad Wait
Provenance: This Orca is a tribute to the great Canadian hockey player #4 Bobby Orr. Painted on the Orca's tail are the many trophies that Orr earned throughout his career including the Stanley Cup, the Smythe Trophy, the Norris Trophy and the Calder Trophy.

'Remains of a Garden'
Artist: Shannon Belkin

Provenance: This bright, vibrant Orca has large sun flowers covering the back and dorsal fin. Underneath a young snorkler slowly swims by. Artist Shannon Belkin has created an enchanting piece of artwork.

'Dancing Orca'
Artist: Jerry Whitehead
Patron: Global Television
Provenance: Jerry Whitehead shows his love and respect for family and tradition in this colourful piece covered from tip to tail with Cree dancers. Notice the dancers' faces: half lit from the night sky and the fire below. Jerry Whitehead was trained at the Nova Scotia College of Arts and Design and at the University of Regina.

'Northwest Coast Killer Whale
Artist: Lawrence Paul Yuxweluptun and Glen Wood
Patron: Vancouver International Airport
Provenance: Master carver Glen Wood and artist Lawrence Paul Yuxweluptun collaborated on this spectacular Orca to reflect the spiritual image of a traditional Northwest Coast Killer Whale.

Provenance: Artist Randie Feil beautifully captures the continuity of time and history with an encircling motif of marine fossils, reminding us of the present being encompassed by its past.

'The Whale Riders'
Artist: Joe Mandur Jr.
Patron: Leith Wheeler Investment
Provenance: Inspired by a Haida legend, this Orca depicts a young woman who is unsuccessfully seeking a partner. Standing on the ocean's edge, she sees an Orca transform into a beautiful man. She then leaps on the back of the Orca and rides away with her new partner. Artist, Joe Mandur's works are found in many important public and private collections in more than ten countries woldwide.

Provenance: This Orca is a charmer. Custom made by Tiko Kerr, this Orca demonstrates his love of reading by spouting the latest literature from a book titled 'AHAB'. Check out the cool reading glasses as well as his sea inspired body art.

'From Deep Within'
Artist: Wayne Carlick
Patron: Capilano Suspension Bridge
Provenance: Member of the Tlingit nation, Wayne belongs to the Xooxhitan House and was raised on the Taku River in northern British Columbia. This Orca reflects Carlick's rich ancestry. On each side of the Orca we see two killer whales painted in different styles, traditional and realistic.

'Gilded Orca'

Provenance: This finely detailed and skillfully painted Orca created by Mandy Boursicot exemplifies the meeting of eastern and western cultures. Like her other works, "Gilded Orca" reflects her cross-cultural influences with her intricate, stylized floral designs.

Provenance: Personally commissioned by Mayor Larry Campbell, this beautifully painted Orca depicts the migration pathways of whales from British Columbia to their winter homes off Mexico. Well-known local artist Landon Mackenzie often grapples with place and space in her works by using cartography, symbols, diagrams and rich colour.

Provenance: This Orca is classic Penhall. His rich colours depict a lush landscape with an undulating pathway that just hints of urban intervention. Ross Penhall who was born and raised in Vancouver has been influenced by the "Group of Seven" which is evident by his simplified abstract forms.
